🔥NEW DEADLINE October 25🔥
Shortly.film, your unhinged friend in the realm of short film macabre and Black Hill Books Ltd is calling all filmmakers and horror aficionados! Get ready for the most thrilling and chilling competition of the year: The Guy N. Smith Short Film Challenge.
Inspired by the legendary horror author, Guy N. Smith, this challenge dares you to create a short film based on the short novel “The Vigil” that brings his spine-tingling tales to life.
British author Guy N. Smith (1939-2020) became a worldwide bestseller in the 1970s and 1980s, when he wrote dozens of gory pulp horror novels. He is best-known for his popular Crabs series, which began with the grisly beach-read Night of the Crabs in 1976 and features titles such as Killer Crabs, Crabs’ Moon and Crabs on the Rampage. Other hit titles include The Sucking Pit, The Slime Beast, Werewolf By Moonlight and his popular Sabat series. Smith also wrote many short stories in a number of genres, some of which were first published in the London Mystery Selection as well as in newspapers and magazines and horror anthologies. The Vigil is taken from an anthology of Smith’s Crab-themed shorts called Crabs Omnibus.
The Challenge: Bring “The Vigil” to the screen with your unique vision, capturing the essence of Guy N. Smith’s iconic style—filled with suspense, horror, and a touch of the bizarre. Your film should evoke the chilling atmosphere and gripping tension that Smith’s fans know and love. The challenge will end October 25 2024. You can read the short story online at www.shortly.film.
